Langsung aja yah, ni ada postingan saya mengenai Pengalaman untuk mempraktekan Bahasa Inggris secara langsung. Salah satu isi Misi dalam Belajar Bahasa Inggris pada Rabu, 6 Mei 2015. History of My Effort to Searching Foreign Nationals

(for practice and trying my english speaking)

Preface

Wednesday, May 6^th 2015. I get project to searching foreign nationals of my english study, for trying and practice my english speaking. Firstly, I have to search foreign nationals that use english as mother tongue, for speaking each other in few minute (10 minute). Secondly, I have to record my conversation with their. Lastly, I have to write chronology about my effort to do that. The project were a fun project of few my study in STIA LAN Jakarta.

Thursday, May 7^th 2015. I think and make planing to traveling searching foreign nationals with some my friends that also were students that have project that same with me. I'm planning with 3 people of my friends, they are Erika, Suci and Elfida. We are planning to doing traveling searching foreign nationals if finished our study morning on Saturday, May 9th 2015 of campus to some place tour, that is museum on Kota Tua (Old City) in West Jakarta.

Saturday, May 9^th 2015. Our traveling done with on foot and use some transportation public to Kota Tua with time 1 hour. Firstly, we must on foot of campus to main street for using public transport car into Karet station. Secondly, we next traveling with use electrical train of Karet station into Manggarai station. In this morning the train not so crowded so we can use seating, that usually fully. Thirdly, we have to transit to next train for next traveling of Manggarai station into Jakarta Kota station. Finally, we on foot into museum that not far of Jakarta Kota station.

In around museum, we looked crowded visitors that coming here, included foreign nationals. We getting some foreign nationals that busy with their activity. partly their there that alone and with their friends, there that talking each other, there out sign in museum, out sign in cafe, taking photo, looking tour object and there also looked with school student that also doing thing that will me do too. They a like of senior high school student that speaking with foreign nationals in there and recording their conversation.

We so nervous to talking to foreign nationals. Erika and Suci decide to canceling their goal for doing their project in now, because feel nervous. Meanwhile me and Elfida trying believing self for do it. Some time passed, Elfida successful accost someone of foreign nationals, but she not know what must talked. Then, I try to talking with him (foreign nationals).

My conversation just 5 minute with foreign national, and recorded video did by Erika use video recorder. Early conversation, I inform my purpose is trying and pratice my english speaking. Then, we introducing self each other and I knowing his name is Mr Raoul from Amsterdam, Belanda. He so good and friendly, so we share information each other about traveling, opinion about tour place, plan, ect. Meanwhile my friends other silent only and help me recording my conversation with Raoul at mid crowded visitor. After some time we speaking, I decide ending talk and ask photo with him.

After my conversation with Raoul finished, I try to listening my recorded video is it. Apparently, voice quality of recorded my video not good because the visitors voice that crowded and blast of wind. Then, may be distance between me with video recorder a little far so voice recorded be very small and must be heard with use additional voice amplifier. Therefore I decide to searching foreign nationals other again in order to get outcome is more the best.

Searching foreign nationals that can doing conversation, begin difficult in daylight is it. In the daylight several of they begin visible in a rush. May be because the time almost point out to lunch time.  However, me and Elfida keep spirit to searching they that can communication with us. I try to speak with some one that American nationals, but he not friendly and not want doing conversation with me. Some time then, we meet some foreign nationals that is 2 male with 1 female people. We try doing conversation with their, but suddenly some student other also coming approaching 2 man were and talking each other. So that we doing conversation with woman that.

Now that did conversation is Elfida, whereas I recording and taking photo their. In their conversation, I know she name is Tina from Argentina. However, their conversation not so long time because she friends in a rush and have to go. But, I also to get opportunity to take photo with she before their going. Furthermore, we effort searching foreign nationals other again.

Some long time we searching, but we not find foreign nationals that can be invited to talk again. They are seen busy and in a rush, therefore we decide to countinue our effort on next time. So in this day we not find foreign nationals that use english language as mother tongue that want communication with us. Finally we go home each with away to direction different.

My travel to go home, follow rute same when I going to Kota Tua, but I have to doing traveling with more long time for go home. Firstly, I have to queue up buying train ticket in Jakarta Kota station and waiting train that to Manggarai station. In this daylight is enough crowded in the train, however I still can get a seating. But many people that stand up, not like my travel in this morning. Secondly, I have to waiting enough long time for transit to next train of Manggarai station into Karet station. At it moment, I have to stand up in train because seating enough full. And finally, I have to wait public transport car to next travel of Karet station to my campus. By chance, I live in around my campus.

At home, I'm listening again recorded video that I getting, and try in order that voice recorded can more clear and loud. I playing it with using amplifire, apparently can heard more good. Then, I recording again this video with voice that more loud. So outcome my video recorded with Mr Raoul there 2 version, that original and that repeat recorded. Futhermore, I want to planning to going to there again in order that get outcome that good more.

Wednesday, May 13th 2015. I try to showing my video to my english teacher Ms Eny. Firstly, she is listening it, however because voice quality that bad and she is not listening till finished. But she keep say "good job" to me. Then, she recommending to me for repeat again conversation with foreign nationals other to getting outcome that more good. Finally, I with other friend planning to going back to Kota Tua on Saturday May 16th 2015.

Saturday, May 16^th 2015. This time I traveled again to find foreign nationals for project of my english study. But I did this trip with different friends, namely Fathyah and Mulyati Spirit. Today is a holiday, because commemorate Isra 'Mi'raj. So we promised to meet in Kota Tua during the day at 2.00pm. I actually wanted this travel is done in the morning, but Fathyah want during the day and Mulyati was also working on this morning until noon.

This travel, I was alone heading to Kota Tua with traffic conditions quite crowded in the daylight. I feel the day is more crowded than last week, may be because today is a holiday. At 1.30pm. I have been arrive in Kota Tua. Arriving in Kota Tua, I see visitors very crowded in there. Unlike a week ago, on this day more traders who trade on the roadside and several corners around the museum. Apparently, the museum was closed for a national holiday. However, I still met foreign nationals. But I just may taking photo with their, and they refused to done conversation with me because they did not have time again for it.

I walked alone for some time, until time point out at 2.00pm I tried to call my friends. Mulyati turns already in the location where we were promised, but she was having lunch there. Then I go to the place she had lunch. While Fathyah, still in her home to get ready to the location where we were promised.

While we waited Fathyah, so Mulyati with me tried to talk to some foreign nationals. But on that day, we saw a foreign nationals a little busy and in a hurry. They said that did not have time to have a conversation with us. But we keep the spirit and trying to find foreign nationals other, who want to talk with us. In the end we found the 2 foreign nationals that is 1 male and 1 female.

I was a little nervous to starting talks to foreign nationals this. Initially they also talk with other visitors who like students that doing the same thing with us, doing conversation and record it as well. Then after the man finished speaking with them, I tried to approach him. I started the conversation by asking to take pictures in advance with him. Apparently he was very friendly and kind, even he that question to me "Do you from Jakarta". Then I use voice recorder in order that our conversation can be heard clearly, and Mulyati help me to recording my video.

My conversation with foreign nationals this lasted about 5 minutes. We introduced our self each other and I know his name is Hesso from Holland, Belanda. I also inform my home area of ​​West Sumatra that has several tourist attractions. We share information about travel, opinions about tour, plans, and others. He stated that Indonesia is very beautiful, and she was sad because she had to return to his country. Some long time we talked, I decided to end the conversation because I also want to give a chance to Mulyati who also want to doing conversation.

After my conversation with Hesso finished, I want to record the conversation and Mulyati with friend Hesso that is the women. But because she was busy with other school students who are also doing the same thing with us, finally Mulyati also spoke to Hesso and I take their video. After they finished talking I took a photo Mulyati with Hesso. When we tried to speak to a female friend Hesso, it turns out they want to go in search of food. So at that time we did not get a recording of a conversation with her.

Furthermore, we tried looking for foreign nationals other and calling Fathyah again by phone. Apparently, Fathyah new will traveling from her home to our place, and we also continues tried to find other foreign nationals. Some foreign nationals that our meet, they just want to take photo but do not want to talk with us. Maybe because it started late afternoon, they were tired and had plans other activities. Some time we are looking and waiting Fathyah, Fathyah finally came at 15.30pm. Because she had not eaten lunch, I and Mulyati accompany her lunch. Once finished with her lunch, we tried to find foreign nationals again.

Searching foreign nationals who want to talk in the afternoon is a difficult thing. In the afternoon it was a foreign nationals looks very rushed. But we are still spirit to find foreign nationals who could communicate with us. Some long time, finally Fathyah trying to speak with someone female foreign nationals. But she refused to have a conversation because she was tired of conversations since the morning and she was also in a hurry. However Fathyah still try to ask her to provide time to talk to each other in a few minutes.

She was a Holland nationals were nice and friendly. Then I recording video conversation Fathyah and of their conversations I knew that she came from Belanda. She giving her time to talk with Fathyah with her hospitality, even though she is actually tired and in a hurry. She also giving information of accordance questions Fathyah, and often she gave a sincere smile. They look very interesting of their conversation until finally arriving a few minutes they talk. Then, Fathyah decided to end their conversation and thank her.

After talks her with Fathyah, we feel to end our mission on this day. Because of the difficulty of searching for foreign nationals who want to talk with us. That afternoon, we go to each home. We parted because our house have direction that different.

I travel longer than the prior-previous travel to go home. First, I have a long queue to buy train tickets at Jakarta Kota station. Then, I have to waiting for long time to a train to travel to Manggarai station. And then, several times the train also stopped on the way, I did not understand why the train stopped several times, although not at a station. Furthermore, I also had to wait longer for transit a train at Manggarai station to Karet station. On the way to Karet station, I also can not seat because fully and passengers are very crowded. And finally, I also waited a long time to get public transport car for continue my travel of Karet station to my home. At way also very jammed, so it takes a long time to till at home. So it is a length of my travel to return at home in the afternoon, that crowded and jammed.

But of my project with travel that I to do, I get a lot of lessons and knowledge. This project is very exciting for me. Firstly, I learned that a good time to look for foreign nationals who want to talk with me is in the morning because they are just visited and tour. Whereas in the afternoon and evening they already have other plans for their activity. Secondly, I understand that the foreign nationals were most welcoming is a foreign nationals. Even foreigners who use English as a mother tongue, they are not so friendly and did not want to accept his interlocutor if their English was not so good. Thirdly, I know that public transport has certain times very crowded and  time lonely. Then I will be considering my travel time for the next time. Lastly, I can be a lot of experience in English language together with foreign nationals. I also getting trick in order not nervous in the beginning of the conversation with them is asking for a picture together at the beginning of the meeting. Maybe just it some of the lessons and knowledge that I can explain.
